What’s The Difference Between THC & CBD?
October 31, 2025
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are two of the most well-known cannabinoids — the naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant that interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system. This system helps regulate things like mood, sleep, appetite, and pain. THC is the compound responsible for the plant’s psychoactive effects — it’s what makes users feel “high” by binding to the CB1 receptors in the brain. CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t produce a high. It’s known for its calming, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving properties and works with other receptors throughout the body to promote balance and relaxation. Many products today combine both cannabinoids to create a more balanced experience that can support different needs, from easing stress to managing discomfort or simply helping you unwind.
At Redbarn, customers can find everything from high-THC flower and concentrates to CBD tinctures, topicals, and balanced 1:1 edibles. Check out our Menus by Location page to see the range of products, or stop by one of our stores to hear insights from our Budtenders!
How Many Edibles Should I Take?
Understanding Edible Dosages & What to Expect
November 18, 2025
Edibles are a popular and discreet way to enjoy cannabis, but the effects can feel different from smoking or vaping. Edibles are absorbed through the digestive system and processed by the liver, which is why they take longer to kick in. Most people feel the onset anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours and the effects can last 4 to 8 hours depending on the dose.
If you are new to edibles, start with a low dose and give yourself time to adjust. We recommend beginning with 5 to 10mg of THC and waiting at least 2 hours before taking more. Many people who want an even gentler introduction choose 2.5mg to 5mg. This slow approach helps you avoid taking too much and gives you a better sense of how your body responds.
What to Expect at Different Dosages
2.5mg THC
Common feelings: Light relaxation, mild mood lift, gentle reduction in stress or tension.
Best for: First timers, people who want very subtle effects or prefer microdosing.
Onset: 45 to 90 minutes.
Duration: 3 to 6 hours.
5mg THC
Common feelings:Noticeable relaxation, mild euphoria, easier time winding down. Many people feel comfortable, calm and clear at this level.
Best for: Beginners who want a mild but present experience without being overwhelmed.
Onset: 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Duration: 4 to 8 hours.
10mg THC
Common feelings: Stronger euphoria, deeper body relaxation, enhanced sensory experience. This is enjoyable for many but can feel intense for beginners.
Best for: People with some THC experience or those looking for stronger relief.
Onset: 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Duration: 6 to 8 hours.
15mg to 20mg THC
Common feelings: Intense body effects, strong euphoria, possible drowsiness. New consumers often find this dose too strong.
Best for: Those with a higher tolerance or who use edibles regularly.
Onset: 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Duration: 6 to 10 hours.
Tips for a Better Experience
-
Eat something first: Taking edibles on a completely empty stomach can increase intensity.
-
Be patient: Avoid taking more before the 2 hour mark because edibles can hit all at once.
-
Set the mood: Choose a comfortable environment and plan your time so you can relax.
-
If you take too much: Stay calm, hydrate and give yourself time. The effects will pass.

Live Resin vs. Distillate
What’s the Difference?
December 9, 2025
Both live resin and distillate are popular types of cannabis concentrates, but they differ significantly in how they’re made and how they feel. The difference begins at harvest: Live resin is created from fresh-frozen cannabis plants, a process that preserves the plant's volatile, aromatic terpenes for a more flavorful, full-spectrum experience and a richer "entourage effect." Distillate, in contrast, is made from dried and cured material and undergoes an extensive purification process called distillation, resulting in an extract containing mostly isolated, high-purity THC (often 90%+ potency) and minimal terpenes — offering strong potency but less of the plant’s natural aroma and flavor. The choice between them often comes down to whether a user values flavor and entourage effects - live resin. Or, raw potency and purity - distillate.
At Redbarn, concentrate lovers can explore a curated selection of both styles, including live resin, distillate and blended cartridges and dabs from trusted Oregon producers. The Redbarn team is always happy to explain how extraction methods impact taste, texture, and overall experience.

Understanding Oregon Cannabis Laws: What You Need To Know
February 22, 2026
Oregon has one of the most established cannabis markets in the country, but the rules can still feel confusing. Whether you are new to cannabis or have been shopping for years, understanding the basics helps you stay compliant and shop with confidence.
In Oregon, adults 21 and older can purchase recreational cannabis from licensed dispensaries. There are daily purchase limits on flower, concentrates, edibles, and other product types. Consumption is allowed on private property but is not permitted in public spaces or inside vehicles.
If you are an Oregon Medical Marijuana Program patient, different purchase limits and tax exemptions apply. Medical patients do not pay the 20 percent recreational sales tax and may have access to higher potency options depending on product type.
Traveling with cannabis is also regulated. Crossing state lines with cannabis remains illegal, even when traveling between states where it is legal.
At Redbarn, we prioritize compliance, transparency, and education. If you ever have questions about what you can purchase or how products are regulated, our team is happy to walk you through it.
